South Shore Guest House is situated towards the end of Ocean Road, next to the local parks and a short stroll to the beachfront or lively town centre. There is free, unrestricted parking in the bays to the front and side of the property for cars and vans. A number of rooms overlook these bays, so for added peace of mind please ask in advance of your booking.

South Shore can offer secure parking for 2 ‘normal’ sized touring motorbikes or 2 ‘touring’ bicycles (with full panniers and racks) or 4 normal sized bicycles, please enquire by email or phone in advance of your booking.

We have Single, Twin or Double rooms available all with private showers, flat screen digital TV/DVD’s, mini-fridges and tea and coffee making facilities. En-suites are available on request (first come, first served) and of course there is free, fast wireless broadband access throughout.

Complimentary full English Breakfast or various Continental or Vegetarian options are served in the dining room or if you have an especially early start, try our acclaimed packed lunches.

There are many places of interest nearby, just head for the Seafront and past the Funfair you will discover wonderful coastal paths and “smugglers inns”, or if you’re into music and dancing, Bents Park host a Summer Festival with many famous bands and singers performing with free entry on many shows. On a quieter note, Arbeia Roman Fort and Museum is just five minutes walk from the Guest House, as is Haven Point Leisure Centre Pool and Gym when the weather isn’t glorious.

If you enjoy wining and dining then look no further than Ocean Roads’ famous “Curry Mile” (don’t worry, it’s less than a mile!) where you will not only find many award winning Asian Restaurants but also classic Italian Bistros’. Alternatively, for those in a hurry there are Fried Chicken, Burger Joints and several “ye olde Fish and Chip shops” to choose from.

If, however, you would just like a relaxing drink in the evening there are a many traditional Pubs in and around town.

If it’s night life you’re after, there are plenty of wine bars and late night clubs towards the centre of town where you can dance to the early hours.
